More Western Australian food heading for Aussie kitchens

Aussies will soon be able to choose more Aussie grown food once the Coalition Government’s mandatory Country of Origin food labelling standards come into effect on July 1, 2018. The new labelling requirements will make it clearer where the products you buy are produced, grown, made or packed, through the use of a bar chart.

Federal Member for Hasluck, Ken Wyatt said the new scheme would see farmers in the Hasluck region selling more of their products in Australia. “Aussie consumers want to support Aussie farmers and Country of Origin labelling lets them do that,” Mr Wyatt said.

These easy to understand labels will make it simple for buyers to tell at a glance where the product comes from, giving shoppers the information they need to make informed decisions.
